Beschreibung
"Mammut" erzählt in zwei geschickt ineinander verwobenen Familiengeschichten vom unvorhergesehenen und dramatischen Scheitern konträrer Lebensentwürfe: Dem erfolgreichen und wohlhabenden jungen New Yorker Ehepaar Ellen (Michelle Williams) und Leo (Gael García Bernal) bleibt neben ihren Karrieren wenig Zeit für ihre achtjährige Tochter Jackie (Sophie Nyweide). Währenddessen sorgt sich ihr Kindermädchen Gloria (Marife Necesito) um das Leben ihrer beiden Söhne, die sie in ihrer philippinischen Heimat zurück lassen musste. Als Leo zu einer lukrativen Geschäftsreise nach Thailand aufbricht, setzt er unabsichtlich eine Kette von Ereignissen in Gang, die für alle dramatische Konsequenzen haben wird.
