In den 60er Jahren war ein junger Mann in dem US-Bundesstaat Kalifornien als Serienmörder aktiv, dem die zuständigen Ermittlungsbehörden erst sehr spät auf die Spur kam. Da hatte Antone Charles Costa, genannt "Tony", schon mindestens vier junge Frauen getötet. Er ließ die Leichen verschwinden, ohne allzu viele Hinweise zu hinterlassen. 1969, als man den entstellten Körper einer früheren Freundin von Tony entdeckte, wurde er dann verhaftet.
