Beschreibung
Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts zettelt "Mahdi" Muhammad Ahmad im Sudan einen Aufstand an, um sich von der ägyptischen Herrschaft zu befreien. Ein Gegenangriff der Ägypter wird schnell niedergeschlagen und bringt den britischen Premierminister in die Bredouille: entweder verliert er das Gesicht oder zahlreiche Männer. Um das zu verhindern, bittet Premier Gladstone General Gordon, den ehemaligen Gouverneur des Sudans, in inoffizieller Mission alle Ägypter zu evakuieren.
