Kriminalinspektor Richie Moser nimmt den Polizeihund Rex bei sich auf, als dessen Besitzer erschossen wird. Schon bald werden die beiden ein erfolgreiches und unzertrennliches Team der Wiener Polizei: Ein Mann wurde von einem Zug überrollt. Was zunächst wie ein Selbstmord aussah, entpuppt sich als Mord. Die Autopsie ergibt, dass das Opfer bereits vor dem Unfall tot war. Dem Ermittlungsteam gelingt es jedoch erstmal nicht, den Verstorbenen zu identifizieren ...
