    American Airlines Flug 1572 an Tower: McDonnell Douglas MD-83 im Anflug auf Bradley International Airport. Keine Antwort! Am Himmel über Connecticut gerät die Maschine in schwere Böen und Turbulenzen, als die Besatzung erfährt, dass der Tower an diesem Abend nicht mehr besetzt ist. Kurz darauf rammt die MD-83 einen von Bäumen gesäumten Bergkamm. Die Piloten wagen ein nicht ungefährliches Manöver. Sie brechen den Landeanflug ab, starten neu durch und gehen in den Steigflug. Als es in diesem Moment zu einem doppelten Triebwerksausfall kommt, bleibt als letzte Möglichkeit nur noch die Notlandung.
