The Fastnet Race takes place every two years over a course of 608 nautical miles and it's named after the Fastnet Rock, in the south of Ireland, which the race course rounds. From its inception in 1925, the race has proven highly influential in the growth of offshore racing, and remains the ultimate test of both inshore and offshore sailing skills. Starting from Cowes and finishing in Plymouth, due to the succession of low pressure systems typical of the English Channel, the Rolex Fastnet Race is considered a challenging race, unquestionably one of the greatest events in the international yachting calendar.
