Beschreibung

Nach dem Tod von König William IV. wird seine erst 18-jährige Nichte Victoria 1837 zur Königin gekrönt. Ihre Mutter und deren Berater Conroy üben Druck auf die junge Frau aus und wollen die Macht an sich reißen. Unterstütz wird Victoria vom Premierminister Lord Melbourne, zu dem sie ein freundschaftliches Verhältnis aufbaut. Doch die enge Verbindung zwischen den beiden lässt Gerüchte entstehen.
